The Margins Method
The Margins Method™ is a simplified inductive, Scripture-rooted approach to Bible study that helps you listen, reflect, and respond with intention.
It’s simple enough for everyday life, but grounded in theologically sound study.
You’ll use a few intuitive symbols to engage with the Word—and then respond in the margins with prayer, reflection, and beauty.
Meet With God in the Margins
The Margins Method™ was created for the woman who’s hungry for depth but weary of overwhelm. It’s for the woman who wants more than a checklist or commentary—she wants a conversation with God.
Rooted in sound theology and simplified inductive study, this method invites you to slow down, notice patterns, ask questions, and respond—right in the margins of your Bible.
You don’t need to be a theologian. You just need a willing heart, a little space, and the Holy Spirit.
How It Works
As you read Scripture, you’ll use five simple symbols to guide your attention and deepen your engagement:
-
â—‹ Circle – Key or repeated words
-
— Underline – When the Holy Spirit prompts something personal
-
♥ Heart → Truth or promise to carry
-
~~~ Wavy Underline – Anything that reveals the character of God or Christ
-
â–² Triangle – Words to study more deeply (Greek/Hebrew, meanings, Version comparisons, themes)
Then, in the margins of your Bible—or on extra paper or tip ins—you respond:
With a prayer.
A note.
A visual.
A quiet yes.
Why It Matters
The margins are where theology becomes relationship.
Where truth gets absorbed into the soul.
Where the Word moves from being studied to being lived.
This method helps you:
-
Understand the context of Scripture
-
Study with sound doctrine in mind
-
Invite the Holy Spirit to speak
-
Engage both heart and mind
-
Create a lasting rhythm of intimacy with God
The Margins Method is simple by design. Here's what supports it:
-
A Bible you can write in
-
Any cards, index cards or paper you wish to use for extra notes
-
Stickers, washi, and tip-ins – to make the practice visual and memorable if you worship through creativity
-
A quiet moment and an open heart
